What you're talking about seems impractical and horribly time consuming to me. A man to does everything on his high budget films? I'd take forever.

    Hey there.

Mann had to pay for it himself. Im sure at the time the idea of him remaking his Own crappy work didnt get the money men giddy.

LA Takedown was a baaaaaad movie.

I assume Steven Soderbergh has 100% contoll of the look of his movies. Im pretty sure he is the Dop and editor.

    Despin out.

    Wink

There is a real danger in doing everything yourself!

1, You can not master every aspect of film making. You can not be the best DOP and editor. You have to apply yourself 100% to your chosen craft to be the best. 75% DOP / 25% editor will not cut it (pun intended).

2, You will miss out on other peoples imput. OK you might think your way is best but someone who can bring years of practical and artistic knowledge to your film is priceless. They might even add another dimension to the production you hadn't seen yourself.

I thought LA Takedown was pretty good. It was close to Heat but without the benefit of big name actors and the higher budget. It was rather 80s though.. Not bad for an 80s TV movie.
